Kiana Nightshade
Just try and find me! Oh, there goes your liver.
Born "raised" in Allstone. Kiana's father spent most of his life in a dark corner of the Salty Dog and probably even marked his territory a time or two. As for Kiana's mother, she hung out around the more upscale Tavern, The Cork and Cleaver. I can remember sneaking past the guy at the door. It was fairly easy, just wait for some badly-dressed drunkard to decide in arguing with the bouncer. Eventually after getting good enough at being sneaky, I could take the collected door fee with me.
Once I got in, I just crept around to an open chair with a good vantage point to observe my mother. Alyssia was a master pickpocket. Mother did have a bit of an odd method though, I'll give her that. Seemed she'd pick the most well-to-do guy, make sure they are fairly toasted and ask them to dance in some cases, or even just talk to them at the bar. Anything to get close enough to their valuables. Of course she would study them before making her move. To see if they were alone, where they kept their stuff, or how out of it they seemed, you know.
Not being of age to take after my father, I looked to my mother for a role model. I observed her every night in that bar until I had to think of another entrance when I got caught at the door. Some new guy got the job, I guess the other one wasn't good enough.
I started coming in through the window above the bar. It was perfect really. There was this balcony that no one ever used. It was worth climbing the building for a veiw like that.
At the age of six, I began to prey on unsuspecting people on the streets. I wont lie and say that I never got caught there, but after my life had been threatened enough times; I got pretty good at being quick, silent, and hidden.
After a few years of this my mother came to me and told me that she knew all to well exactly what I had been doing and decided she would show me the ropes...and how not to fall from them.
She took a break from her usual methods and we began thiefing by night together when I was thirteen.
My mother trained me until I was almost seventeen and went back to her job figuring that after three years the game would be new even at the same place.
During age eighteen I had gotten so good that I at least ranked with my mother, and at that I began to get bored.
One night I was lying on that forgotten balcony listening to the stories of the bar. A few people who sounded, fairly sober, were whispering so I curiously tuned in on them. They were speaking of some theives guild forming nearby. Anyway, knowing how to think like a thief, I was on the look out for someone who looked like a person who could lead me there.
A few weeks of observation and I began to notice a particular one. He was pretty sneaky and seemed to be important or at least known to many. He also exhibited mad skills with his pickpocketing. He came in every once in a while but in any case, when he was there I watched him closely.
After month of the disappointment that came with not seeing him in there like I had wanted to. Some belligerant guy, obviously smashed thought of a wonderful idea and had challenged him to a not-so-friendly game of darts. WOOT! Thiefy guy won on a bet of ten gold and tried to collect his fair winnings...they shook on it! The drunk guy started pushing him and the owner of the Cork and Cleaver, Artimis, yelled for them to take it outside. They took the backway out and I took the widow to the roof. The big guy exhibited good aim for being so smashed, but the thief was quick and alert. Mostly dodging because he hadn't seemed to want to hurt this guy, at least not right away. Much like a cat that plays with it's food. Eventually the big guy took a swing and the thief dodged it and pulled a dagger from his left to stab the big guy. The guy dodged this and stabbed himself by moving right into the other dagger waiting on his left. I looked at the gaping wound. It was a huge gash...and it sizzled...eww. Of course when I looked back for Thiefy McDaggerson.
I was surprised, though, to see him the very next night at the Cork and Cleaver. This was going to be the night I followed him to the guild. It seemed he was distracted, because he didn't turn to look at me at any time.
He disappeared finally into a large wearhouse. I searched around the back to find and entrance and figured my best bet would be the sewer system. I was caught despite my mad skills in very little time.
They threw me out the first time, I went back, they threw me out again. I even took a different route! Anyway, I guess they reported me to their leader, because he had requested me to be brought to him if I came around again...which I did!
The bodyguard thieves dragged me to their leader's room. Meanwhile, I'm only acting like I'm resisting...I wanted in and what easier way...but man, am I either fearless or dumb.
BODYGUARD: Braum, we brought the kid.
BRAUM: What do you think your doing?

I realized I knew him but decided not to say "HEY, I KNOW YOU!"

ME: I'm getting into this Theives Guild.
BRAUM: Okay, so do you want money, or do you actually think you have some skills?
ME: I have skills!
BRAUM: (hushed) Well you are indeed persistant...hmm..(normal speaking) Okay, I'll give you an assignment. There's this wealthy man with dogs, but I don't want his dogs, just the most expensive painting, which hangs in his livingroom.
ME: Painting. Guy with Dogs. Got it!

She needed some things first. You do a job, do it right!
She picked up some meat and laced it with a sleeping potion then put it in a sack. She headed out that same night.
She had no problem drugging the dogs, or getting the painting. People with gold lacks brains. She got back to the guild and gave her proof to Braum.
For a month Kiana had become an apprentice to Niobhe Windblade at Braum's request. They became very close and Niobhe ran it by Braum that Kiana would be very helpful as the guild's ears and eyes in Tulan. So she set out with orders from Torvaldine to collect information and possibly recruit.
