News At Last
Undead goblins, evil dwarfs, and news of Brunis
Father,

I am pleased to be able to tell you that I have found some news of Brunis at last. I only wish I could write this letter under better circumstances, but I can tell you that he is alive (or was just a few days ago). Let me tell you the whole story.
Our journey to Westdel was quite and peaceful, and we were able to get two weeks of rest. To the joy of Gnorman, Ezmerelda will be apprenticed to a dwarf master in Citadel; hopefully she will be safe and learn to control her abilities. Our new troubles began Yesterday with a conversation between a local elder, Farmer Grimsby, and Gnorman. It seems someone has been tresspassing in Farmer Grimsby's pumpkin fields, and he believes it was dwarves. He was angry with Gnorman for bringing us to Westdel, believing we were the source of the problem. We decided to investigate the situation, even if just to prove our own innocence.
We travelled to Farmer Grimsby farm, and camped out last night in the trees just north of the fence. I had the first watch, which proved to be uneventful, but our fun began while Rorrin was on watch. We were awakened by a loud shout(or shreik) from Rorrin, and found ourselves faced with an undead creature (apparently a gnome). I hit the creature with a javelin and my spear, but they appeared to have little effect on the unatural creature. Eoin and Rorrin had better luck though and were able to slay the unfortunate gnome.
We decided these creatures must be the source of Farmer Grimsby's problems, and were probably coming from Brochbarrow Hill to the north; we decided to head to the Hill and take a look even though it was still night. After walking along the road for a bit Groehl noticed a light on the top of Brochbarrow Hill, but it disappeared before the rest of us saw it. A little further on, we came upon a very normal, and yet unusual sight. We came upon a camp of three dwarves; Hagrad "One Eye," Helga, and Uthadier. As we were speaking with Hagrad, Helga said that I looked famalier (though I was absolutely positive I had not seen her before). She said she had seen me (or someone who looked very much like me) in Cobblepot three days ago. She was talking about Brunis, he was at the tavern speaking with the barmaid. Unfortunately, Helga did not know where Brunis may have been headed.
Things were looking good with this group, until we started talking about the undead. They claimed they just sang and the undead came to them, and they were killing them and taking their heads as trophies. Me and Gim, however, were able to see through their lies, and discovered that they were in fact creating the undead themselves. Groehl was able to discern that they were followers of Thurn (and as Groehl is a disciple of Throrn, things were bound to get ugly).
Hagrad challanged Groehl to a Duel, and though he fought bravely Groehl was defeated (I however was able to win 5 silver from Rorrin on the match). Fortunately for Groehl, the rest of us were paying attention when Hagrad flipped his axe over to land the killing blow on our friend. This was not an easy fight, but in the end I was able to defeat Hagrad and Eoin was able to fell Uthadier. Helga proved to be more dificult than her friends, but a couple of quick stikes by Rorrin and she too fell. Gim was able to them use a healing wand to revive Groehl, and with gratitude he healed the rest of us.
As we searched their wagon we discovered a goblin tied up (and oddly he is a very civilized goblin). He introduced himself as The Great Grizzlegast, and told us that the dwarfs had been using him as bait for the undead. Grizzlegast ws once a scholor for Lord Etrugal, but been imprisoned for disagreeing with his lord. Being grateful for the rescue, he informed us that Hagrad had been able to summon the undead using a black orb he had been give. The orb is currently on Brochbarrow Hill, and we are about to venture to the Hill to find a way to destroy it. Having had enough of the undead, Grizzlegast is taking the wagon back to Westdel, and coming back tonight to pick us up. With Shaelan's blessing I will return from the Hill and be able to travel to Cobblepot and search for Brunis.
As I said, I wish I could write this under better circumstances, but I wanted to make sure you knew that Brunis is alive and last seen in Cobblepot. If I do not return from Brochbarrow Hill, you will know were to send messages looking for him. May the blessings of Shaelan be upon you and mother.

Your Son,
Lochlan
