A Dismal Journey
I hate Marshes
This has been the worst journey by far. The marshland we have been crossing have been a constant torment, if it isnt bugs its chest deep mud. We have been following Gim's lead, his sense of direction has been invaluable here. With the sky completely clouded and the marshes seeming endless we would have been easily lost.

It was the second night that we had a bit of excitement. I had third watch and had settled in for the cold wet boredom when I started to notice strange lights bouncing about in the distant trees. I had no idea what they were and decided to wake Gim hoping he might know something. He told me they were wisps and then got this wierd look and tone while explaining them. After his creepy little explanation he promptly fell back to sleep. Odd little fellow.

I passed the rest of my watch without event and woke Jas for his turn. I stayed awake, I was still a little nervous about those lights and glad I did. It was about hald through Jas' watch when we were attacked by the hideous beasts. They attacked from the ridge we had been sleeping under. They rushed us before we could even wake the others dealing some serious blows to both Jas and I, their fangs and deadly as their claws. It only took a few moment for us to turn the fight in our favor though, and thanks to some skilled healing Gim we came out alright.

Once we overcame their advantage of surprise we dealt with them easily. Both Eoin and Lochlan dealt savage killing blows, Gim and Kano took care of the ones they stayed atop the ridge, while Jas and I took care of the one that had started to circle aroung us. After killing one in a single swipe I feel I might be getting a taste for this type of adventuring.

It was more or less morning by the end of it and we decided to start moving. We will reach Raven's Lake tomorrow, I will be glad to reach our destination no matter what we find. Now I will get what rest I can.
