The Shield Of Citadel Pwns Lerl In The Mouth
We finally reach Barataria only to find our own crew sold us out to the church of Lerl.
After landing on Barataria I quickly realized that the people here were indeed more than uncivilized hooligans running around doing whatever they wanted. There was a rule and order which was upheld by the cloaked men with black and red garments. Everyone in town seemed to respect them probably because they reason to but most of us from The Shield Of Citadel had seen so much evil that whatever caused the people here to fear was not really affecting us... at least not yet.

Once on the main island just past the northern docking island we found many a bars and shops and livelihood happening. It was obvious to me that the best shops in town were placed where the most people would be walking by. For some reason, we decided to continue walking past all these places of commerce until we came to a church of Lerl. We had not a few negative experiences with the people of Lerl, ie Maddy, so we were cautious when approaching the church. There was a member of the church tending to the gardening outside. Much like those in the red and black garments were for the rest of the town. I believe I made a remark about Throrn being a more reliable god than Lerl and some in the group seemed to be upset at my outspoken nature. I usually show respect to others beliefs much like Gim but when someone is outspoken about their evil tendencies than I am not opposed to speaking my mind to those fools.

Eventually we grew tired of the conversation and decided to head back up to the local taverns. While inside a dwarven tavern we tried finding out information about the aboleth on the coin that Captain Stone had given us. I thought that being loud and boisterous in a town like Barataria would help us find the information sooner but apparently my attempt didn’t work. Although Rorrin was able to run into someone from a country I’m not familiar with who didn’t feel like speaking the Common language. I myself prefer to speak dwarven but I’ve choose to speak Common for the sake of ease. Either way his name is Hitu and I didn’t really get much information from him because I cared more for finding out about this coin.

Without much success we decided to stay the night. In the morning we heard someone screaming from the Wailing Rock. Which turned out to be a place of punishment. Apparently, someone was placed there for acts I knew nothing about but either way seemed inappropriate punishment nonetheless since all who went there were never heard from again. Again the commotion of the town picked up just like the first day here and we could no longer hear the screams. Gim wanted to find a boat to go out to the man but I believed he was there for a reason and it’s not best to get mixed up with the local customs until we know more information. On the way back to the bar I noticed Tenedos lifting a purse off of an obviously drunken man who looked like he didn’t have much copper to his name. I found the act despicable but since Rorrin was taken such a liking to the Wizard I decided to hold my tongue until he put the group in harms way with his actions.

While in the tavern we all sat at a table and starting to piece together all of the information that we had collectively received while here until suddenly a few church members of Lerl came in. I wanted to show them the symbol I had taken from Maddy but I chose better judgment and merely mocked them. They were obviously looking for us and since no one in our group and caused enough trouble with them to warrant an appearance we all realized that someone from our boat had told the church about our presence. I’m sure it was because of the dangers we went through on the boat that the crew was scared of us but perhaps Talbot who seemed to lead the crew was in charge of the threats we received from Lerl this day. Either way because of the men in black robes working in the bar nothing came of the verbal fight and the members went on their way. We realized we needed to figure out who had spoke about us and why but these questions would have to wait since for now we needed to watch our backs against attacks from Lerl.
