Volker Beck
Mercenary of Citadel and father of Rorrin and Groehl.
Volker Beck was a strong hard working dwarf who grew up in the rougher parts of Citadel. The house where he grew up in was not much to look at and while the city was heavily populated with many citizens… none of them had two pieces of copper to their name. Nonetheless, Volker and his nine siblings enjoyed growing up together and had fun roaming the stone streets and getting into mischief.

His father and mother gave Volker a typical upbringing for their social standing except his father became more and more absent with each day. Volker missed his father every time he would go out to the local bar and wished he’d spent more time with him. It had gotten so bad that Volker he started to refer to his father the way his mother did as the “drunken ass”. It was this drinking addiction that affected Volker more than anything.

One night, while out drinking with his friends, Volker’s father ran up such a bar tab that the local pub called The Wooden Mallet, that the local bruiser’s ruffed him up and left him for dead in an alley. The tragic death of his father at such a young age weakened Volker at first but eventually being the oldest sibling it pushed him to fight for his family, work hard in the mines, and most importantly swear off any hard liquor for fear of what might happen to him.

After growing up and maturing though life Volker realized he had established himself as a dwarf and even made a name for himself as the local “bodyguard”. After growing up protecting his family and scraping by with just his physical capabilities he learned the streets of Citadel well enough to find his calling amongst the guild. Whether he worked missions to clear out beasts to the north, or escorting guild leaders through rougher parts of town, he was very well known for his strength and ability to say much without saying anything at all.

While Volker enjoyed the pay that comes with being a mercenary he wished far greater than money that he could be a great father. He had many doubts about his capabilities after being raised by his father but knew that he had learned from his father’s mistakes and would not repeat them on his children.

He eventually found a female dwarf, within the clan, with beautiful red hair to bear his children and make him a wife. She gave birth to two sons Groehl and Rorrin. And even though his capabilities as a warrior probably outweighed his abilities as a father he still enjoyed his new job too much to ever going back to being a mercenary and continues to watch over his two sons as they mature into well rounded dwarves.
