The battle with the ghasts took alot out of us, so we decided to go back and rest. Problem. When we were try to open one of the doors in the room we caused a cave in blocking the tunnel back. The only other way to go is the door the ghasts came from. None of us were in a hurry to run in there so we decided to rest where we were. We moved the corpses to the side room to lessen the stench so we could get a little rest. Gim, Tenedos, and Derrinar have exhausted all of the magic and need time to recover.
Kambei took the first watch using what was left of the torch, Derrinar would follow him and I would finish with the third watch.
I woke some time later to Derrinar whispering my name. He felt like there was something in the room but he couldnt see it. I craned my neck to look around him to the corner but I didnt see a thing. Considering some of the freakish things I have seen in the past few months I wasnt going to count out Derrinars feelings. He insisted he could sense something over there watching us. We tried waking Gim but the feeling left Derrinar. That was when we heard it.
A moan sounded out from the other room and Gim said he could hear foot steps. This isnt good. I hoped what ever it was would pass on. We decide to wake Kambei just in case, but we held off on waking Hunter and Tenedos. Tenedos needs to sleep so he recover his strength for magic and Hunter tends to be loud at the worst possible times
I moved forward down the hall to see if I could glimpse what was behind the door without being noticed. I readied a small mirror I had in my pack and knelt at the door to slip the mirror in the small space of the open door. I switched back to normal sight and catch a glimpse of a strange shoulder just before it moved closer to the door. Now that I was using my normal sight I saw the green glow coming around the door edges as well. I felt it was time to get out of there.
I moved back to the end of the hall to wait and see if it would come. Kambei joined me there to wait for it. When it came I couldnt believe what I saw. It was undead no doubt its jaw hung slack and its ribs were exposed. Inside the ribs was a green flame that now and again a face in pain would form in it. The creature was even bigger than Hunter. As it opened the door Kambei let an arrow fly hitting it in the arm. What happened next I dont really recall, it did something to Kambei and myself. I was too confused to focus one anything. I mostly just stood there babbling, well I did when Kodan was holding me down. It seems Kambei and I tried to kill each other. Kodan and hunter tried to hold us down to keep us from hurting anyone all the while they had to deal with the creature.
We nearly didnt survive this fight. Our fate was not to die this day though. The creature is destroyed and now we much press on into the next rooms. What awaits us there I cant even guess. I hope a way out. |
