A Fire In The Distance
A letter to Groehl and Rorrin
Groehl and Rorrin

As I sit alone waiting, my thoughts can’t help but drift back the events of the past weeks. A new land, some strange friends, a step closer to our mission, but also a step back. Though I was able to recover the air essence (Kalvesh should have given you this) I can’t help but feel as though I have made it that much harder for us to get the fire essence, let me explain the situation as it stands.

Baeron (a cleric of fire) had agreed to help our cause by providing the fire essence if we relinquished the dragons heart to him. His lust for righteous revenge was great, and I saw a chance to use it as a leverage point. He promised that he would be able to give me what I wanted within a month’s time. At this point Baeron had been true to his word with me, I had no reason to doubt him. However, when he took control of the dragon’s heart his behavior became disturbing, erratic, speaking to an unseen entity; perhaps he is no longer in control of his own mind, I can not say. Speaking quickly to his servant he gave final commands as to what should be done with the people living in the community, he then spoke words of magic and vanished. I stayed behind here in hopes that Baeron will indeed be good to his word, if so I look forward to seeing you all again in Citadel within the month. Using my own abilities I have determined his direction, though I fear to speak it in a letter I have left this information with Hazim (Baeron’s servant), he is a trustworthy individual and himself is concerned over his masters departure. If I do not return I fear the worst has happened to me. I don’t expect you to put our friends in danger to rescue me; that is why I have attached the void gem to my animal companion’s leg. If something happens to me he will be able to fly back to Citadel with the gem. I hope your search for the hammer has proven successful, I fear time might be running out for all of us.

Your friend
