A Message From Gim
Newcomers to Citadel
The past few weeks have been far too quiet. Upon returning to Citadel our company split in two. Rurric, Sergeant, Groehl and myself stayed in Citadel to search out leads about the Hammer of Delhidir and to defend Citadel from anymore threats from the deep. Gim, Hunter, and Grokbuk set out on the flying ship to pursue the elemental girl. Gim swore they would bring back the essence of air and we had complete confidence in his words.

Weeks passed. Rurric and Sergeant have been absent lately. They must be battling creatures of he dark beneath Citadel. Groehl and I have been waiting for the others to return and listening for any rumors of that damned paladin.

I have accomplished one thing while I waited here. I revisited the Azer. Before our journey to the peaks of Citadel I had an powerful Dwarven Waraxe made but stopped short of having it enchanted with any specialized power. This was partly due to the cost and also due to the fact I had not decided what purpose the axe would serve for me. I had the azer smiths enchant the blade with a bane against the undead. It will cut down any of the spawn of Neresh that get threaten my home. I have named it Dead Reaver.

I was spending the early part of today oiling Dead Reavers blade. Groehl had gone downstairs to check for messages and came back with more than just messages. He brought four humans and an elf. The conversation that followed was a bit confusing, everyone was talking over each other but he short of it was this. The three humans; Captain Gray, the namless one, and Kalvesh Dawnwatcher were from the land of Agrathea and had worked with Gim and the others. Gim had managed to attain the essence of wind and sent the turn imbued crystals and one empty back with the bard Kalvesh. The peacock of a bard then explained how Gim had cut a deal for the essence of fire and had stayed behind to wait for this deal to be fulfilled. The three of them came here to make sure we were told of all that had happened. Once Kalvesh had delivered his message he made his farewells and said he was going to seek out Calbins Coils, the local performing area.

As for the elf, he appears to be some agent of the elven government sent here to investigate what has been transpiring with the aboleths. I dont see how its any of the pointy eared buggers business what goes on here in Citadel, this is dwarf business. Regardless this noble elf fancys himself a sort of war hero and Groehl seems to be taking
a particular joy in playing along.

The fourth human was a religious man. He dressed in simple robes and carried a staff. He claimed his god had sent him to aid us in our efforts. Our conversations were interrupted by a knock at the door.

I answered it to find the servant of the local thane asking to speak with The Shield Of Citadel. I let him in and he almost left seeing all the humans and an elf. He thought he had the wrong room. I explained that Groehl and I were members of the Shield and he could speak with us. His name of Bulger, and the Thane sent him ask us to come and speak with him about strange disappearances around the lake community where he lived. The first thing that popped into my head was “aboleth”.

We invited the four newcomers to join us and we set out for the Thanes hall. The elf complained about having to walk for such a long distance without any form of transportation. I dont know if this pointy eared bugger will ever be able to see the beauty of Citadel. Ah well what can you expect from an elf.

We met with the Thane in his hall and he was well blessed when he greeted us. As our conversation turned to darker subjects he took us to a private room to tell us the tale. In truth Bulgar was the one who told us most of the useful information. The Thane seemed intent on becoming even more blessed by the minute. I like a good drink as much as the next dwarf but there is a time and place for it.

By the end of the meeting we learned that the disappearances had been focused around the lake and there was no pattern to the selection. The strangest part was the people would be turn up later either dead in the streets or seen tearing at each other until they kill each other. This was a new twist. The aboleths before were focused on controlling them for a purpose, not making them kill each other for no apparent reason. The Thane asked us to help discover what was causing this and eliminate it, for which we would receive honor, praise, and rewards. Of course all three of those things appeal to different members of our company so we accepted and made plans. We have split up what leads to follow between all of us. Some will examine the bodies, some will speak with the Dowsers Guild about maps of the lake and area, and others will go over maps of the disappearance looking for pattern and such. We have a lot of work ahead of us. We shall begin tomorrow.
