Elf, Drow (Shadow)
Elves of The Plane Of Shadow.
Drow, Shadow Elves, Shadovathari (Deep Shadow Elves)

The shadow elves are the dark reflection of the high elves of the material plane. They are the descendants of high elves who ventured into the realm of shadow. Shadow elves are a very noble race, though their shadowy nature gives them a decidedly darker aura, making those who do not understand them suspicious of their motives.

Shadow elves feel as strongly about the preservation of their native land as their material plane cousins, and will go to good lengths to keep the harmony of their world from being disturbed; The drow work within the shadows, not against them. They find solace and peace in the quiet darkness and are generally offended by bright colors or sudden and colorful displays.

The shadovathari (pronounced shaid-oh-vah-tharr-ei) are an offshoot of the drow sub-race who have fully embraced The Plane Of Shadow. They are seen as wild, mysterious, and even sometimes dangerous by the drow. Each branch of the shadow elf race has respect for the other and generally they leave each other alone.

They have skin the color of the shadows, ranging from a dark grey to jet black.

Shadow elves are considerably less long-lived than their nigh immortal high elf cousins, having a natural lifespan of around 600 years.

The highly magical and unusual nature of the Shadow Plane can easily give rise to a strange and dark ancestry. Players who decide to play one of the drow are welcome to adopt one of the following templates:
