Gideon!
Family,
I have done a great many things in the past week. Traveling south has been advantageous finally. I have also come across a creature so disgusting, immoral, dirty, and crude, that it makes a human, even one of the cursed seladorians look like a saint. This creature is called an Orc. I first came across this creature after coming across a half eaten doe in the forest. Not only was it half eaten, but the stench emanating from it turned my stomach. I followed the horrid trail of destruction into the mountains, and came across two creatures so hideous I will not describe them to you. There were two of them tearing apart a small hog. Just ripping the limbs off, and barely eating any. I had such an unusual hatred for these creatures that I did not hesitate. I ran out from the cover, and cut them both down before they could react. I feel no remorse either. Soon after their deaths, I fled up into the mountains. I did not know if there were more of these creatures around, but though I felt an odd compulsion to hunt them all down, I knew I would not be able to win against a larger group of them. This is when I became lucky.

I soon came across a wandering party of humans. They were traveling in the mountain pass, and were armed with a wide array of weapons. They all walked with the stance of an experienced fighter, though they were not soldiers, nor were they dressed in the manner of any humans I had seen thus far. I realized they did not know woodcraft at all, and thus I would have no trouble trailing them without being seen, and so I did. Two days following in the trees, waiting while they slept, and learning of a brewing war, of the mercenary trade, of a city called Tuallen, and of a small human nation called Gideon. I became excited as I learned of these tidings. Gideon was a rebel nation from Selador, they were preparing an army to fight for the freedom once again. I learned that they were hiring soldiers to fight for them, and would take anyone. I also heard some excited talk from the humans of fighting alongside a creature called a dwarf. And It was from these men I learned of orcs. An evil creature that populated the mountains, they kept a strong watch in the night for the orcs, for they feared them. We saw none on our journey apparently an odd occurrence. And then we came upon the city.

Tuallen is a large stone city. The northern part of the city is very exquisite. There is a large camp set up on one side of the city, I assume this is the army, and the fighters I followed here headed straight to the city to sign up for the mercenary corps. I waited in the shadows, and observed the city for the past day. It is once again nearing dawn, and I have decided that I shall either die this day, or earn myself a position of respect in this army. I shall sign up for the mercenary corp, and if I am accepted as an elf, I shall know this is a noble human nation, and if I am slaughtered, the humans shall someday ind death at the hands of you my family if you ever get these letters I have written, and now I go to lady destiny’s decision I was spared in the slaughter of my friends, perhaps this is my purpose, this army, this nation. Gideon!
