La Resistance
Journal 02 of the Heralds Of The Dawn.
We arrived in the underground lair of the resistance today. I have only Jerick and Marrol with me, the rest of Jerick’s companions opted to go into the city of Braes. Jerick assures me that they will be alright on their own, somehow I am unsure; as they don’t seem to quite grasp how much the Church of Aesia hunts them and just how much support the people of this area give the church. Hopefully the wizard Dean can keep Alawan and Varian out of trouble, though somehow I doubt it as he seems to be somewhat absent-minded and doesn’t interact well with people.

Alawan and Varian seem to have good hearts, but they both seem to lack real-world experience. It’s as if they have somehow been sheltered from this world. Unfortunately, I have been unable or possibly, unwilling to get to know these people on a personal level, as they seem to be some of the strangest that I’ve ever met. The only one who I’ve talked to at all on any somewhat serious level has been Jerick and even then, he’s so quiet and introspective, it’s hard to get anything off him except a sort of silent confidence and determination. He seems odd, perhaps it is his elven blood.

----------------

I really hate this place. It always feels as if the walls and ceiling are going to cave in at any moment. Somehow, it seems worse now. I just want to get away from these caves, these people.

I just returned from Elder Hiram’s chambers, where he and Jerick were reunited. I’m not sure what it is that he expected to hear, but I am almost certain that the tale which we were told was nothing like what he had ever imagined. I know I never imaged such things were possible.

The magnitude of what we were told was tremendous and hardly seems to make sense. Traveling into the elven lands. Conversing with gods. Leaving this plane. How can such things be real? I’ve never even left the lands of Selador, let alone the left the entire world. It almost seems to fantastical to be true, but somehow I don’t think things like that can be completely made up, even as much as I don’t want to admit it.

Anyways, no matter my feelings about this situation, Hiram has asked that I accompany Jerick and his companions on their journey and I have sworn that I will do what I can to protect them. Somehow though, I get the feeling that he has asked me to accompany Jerick not only as a protector, but because he possibly questions his sanity. I don’t know this for sure, but the one thing that I do not is that, for all our sakes, I hope Jerick has gone mad.

----------------------------

“Dean did it!” are the words that Varian is continually blurting out as we question the three who went into town about what happened.

I was awoken by a messenger sent to me by Hiram, who only said that Jerick’s companions had been spotted fleeing from a burning Braes, being chased by clerics of the Church of Aesia. I quickly got out of bed and informed Jerick about the current situation and we both left to search for them. Needless to say, neither of us were too happy to be woken up to this.

After tracking them for several hours we finally caught up to them to the east of the caves, luckily none of them know anything about covering up their tracks and they left a trail that anyone could follow far away from the resistances caves. We quickly set off back to the caves, as quickly and carefully as possible, as I did everything in my power to keep out tracks covered so anyone who followed them from Braes will never find where they went.

From what Varian says, he was speaking to a table (?) in the inn when several Clerics of Aesia came in asking for Dean. Apparently, those clerics were going to kill all of them and Varian had to use some of his magic to subdue them and protect the other two. Dean doesn’t have the slightest idea as to why they were looking for him and Alawan did his best not to seriously hurt anyone. I don’t even want to think about the possible repercussions of this situation, as the town is so close to these caves, but at least I understand a little better why Hiram asked me to accompany them. Someone has to keep an eye on them and keep them out of trouble.
