The Whispering Vault
Journal 18 of the Heralds Of The Dawn.
We found Marrol’s homeland down here in the Underdark after several days of travel, well, I think it was days. The wizards here are vastly more powerful than anything I’ve ever encountered. They managed to cast some sort of powerful magic on me which has healed not only my body but my spirit as well. I think it’s a combination of the healing I and the rest of the party received and our conversation with the village’s lore-master which has raised our spirits. According to her there may be a way out of this place. From what she’s told us all we need to do is enter a place called the Whispering Vault. It’s an interesting name. From what she’s told us none of them can even get near it because it has some sort of effect on creatures with a psychic nature, but to most of us it will have little or no effect. Marrol on the other hand will have to seal off her powers if she wishes to continue. I’ve told her that it’s not necessary, that she has found her home, she shouldn’t give up her nature like that, but she seems insistent upon continuing our quest. She is definitely one of the bravest girls I have ever met.

From what we have been told it will be a dangerous journey, and no one knows what is one the other side. But it’s our only way. We have to get through and speak to their first. The man who saved the Zanathae from the Ilythid by developing the same psychic powers as they have. From what we’ve been told, he’s on the inside of the vault, in a prison of his own making, and only he can save us. I’m willing to partake of this journey and so is Hoargoth, I know he hates this place at least as much as I do. Tomorrow we leave. I only hope that we all make it through okay.
