Reality Is The Greatest Illusion
After we got to the island where the human city used to be, we decided to make camp. When I awoke, I discovered that our numbers had doubled. Not a good thing when you wake to find yourself surrounded by humans. Especially ultra-stuffy paladins of Aesia. Naturally, I flipped and almost attacked them all, but I was stayed my party members.

It was a group of humans, which makes sense since we’re in the human lands, with one half-elf and a satyr. How bizarre. As I woke, everyone was involved in an argument over the half-elf. No real surprise there. Everyone usually complains about us. Apparently, she had a blade that she needed to feed periodically. So, I guess, she was cutting herself. But there were no marks on her and the blade had no mouth, so I have no idea how the dagger took its nourishment. Then she took leave of her senses and tried to kill herself. Jacques disarmed her and the gray hair destroyed the dagger. Now, I may not really understand magic, but it seems a waste of a perfectly good dagger.

We finally found the human city and easily navigated it with help from the gray hair. Weird place. Eerie like. So we located the building we wanted. After going inside the catacombs we found lots of neat stuff. Nothing particularly useful but some neat stuff. Lots of books, which Islan was pretty excited about. I found a book about how half-elves are evil and dirty, etc. It seemed amusing so I kept it. Odd thing is that I can’t find it now. We also found a horn, which turned out to be the key to a riddle. After blowing it, a staircase opened up in the wall.

We went down and eventually came to a split. We chose a direction and came to a burial chamber. After much discussion (i.e. arguing) we removed the lid off the large casket in the middle of the room. A big ugly dead guy came out of the box. This was not one of our smarter moves. He was tough. Skeletons were crawling out of the walls. I don’t know who finished him off though. I definitely took a little damage, but not enough to affect me. The other party scooped up the loot and we decided to move on.

Down the other passage we eventually came to another room filled with treasure. But it was odd. If anyone touched the gold, it turned to lead. There was another little old man that the gray hair knew. He called himself Zorak or Zoltar or something. But the gray hair called him Horace. Then he got pissed because we wouldn’t leave him alone. So he created some ugly monsters. The big human thug attacked him first and actually looked like he did damage. Then he was hurt by a fire shield the wizard had on. So he flew (flew!) away like a crying little boy, never to be seen in this battle again.

Many different people tried to kill him. We all took turns attacking either him or his ugly pets. Then this gold fire started weaving all around him, almost like puppet strings holding him up. I got sandwiched between the wizard and this toad beast. The toad-thing attacked me got in a hit. That didn’t feel too good. But I was too focused on the mad wizard to care. I just kept swinging. I wanted what we came to this hole for. The second crystal. And it was whiff, whiff, miss, CONNECT! I knew there was a pattern to his shields. I could see it. And I finally managed to get my blade between movements and snap that damn chain that secured the crystal. Just like I did to Islan. And this victory was almost as sweet as when I pulled that move on Islan. Hmph. Two pompous jerks who never saw it coming. Ha ha.

The gold fire ate that wizard alive. That was disturbing to watch. Then the room and all the gold and treasure and the whole city faded around us. When the city disappeared completely the other party was gone too. Pity. They weren’t all that bad, like the humans we first met here. And I really wanted to hang out with the other half-elf more. Ah well. Who knows? We may come across them again in our journeys.
