Abjuration
Level: Sor, Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: Personal
Duration: I hour / level

This spell calls into being a subtle, shimmering field of energy around the casters body whose sole purpose to to protect the caster from an enemy's dispell magic. If a dispell magic or greater dispelling is cast upon the caster, one of the caster's posessions, or upon an area which the caster occupies, the ward against dispelling immedietly shatters and is broken, releasing energies that bolster the effective caster level of the wards bearer for that one moment. The bearer of the ward gains a bonus to their caster level equal to 1/3 their own caster level only for the purposes of resisting the incoming dispell magic effect. These bonuses apply only against the single incoming dispell attempt, and are no longer in effect once the dispell is finished. For example, if a 13th level wizard had this spell in effect and an enemy caster attempted to dispell one of his spells, the wizard would gain a resistance bonus of 4 to his caster level for the purposes of resisting the dispell effect. The enemy caster would then have to beat 28 (11 + caster level of 13 + 4) on a caster level check.

Note that if the spell caster is protected by both a ward against dispelling and a globe of invulnerability, the globe must first be destroyed before the ward against dispelling can be affected. The globe protects the ward, the ward does not protect the globe.

Only one ward against dispelling can be active upon the caster at once. This spell provides no bonuses against a disjunction.

Material Component: A glass or crystal bead worth at least 1 gp that shatters upon casting the spell.
