Just when I begin to think I understand these barbarian people, something new and completely incomprehensible occurs. A short while after my prayers this morning a commotion arose in the village. Blake and I ran to check it out, finding an unarmed stranger being attacked by a whole crowd of the villagers. To my surprise Blake rushed to the man’s aide and Alawan and I quickly joined him. Danyelle, who had learned the language of these people, quickly learned that the man was a Lochlander apparently a neighboring region, and a group of people who had been in conflict with our hosts. Once we got the man away from the crowd he told us he had only come to warn them of an approaching army of goblins and orcs. How could these people mercilessly persecute a man who had only come to warn them of oncoming danger? A man who had run day and night after his own village had been wiped out. These people truly were barbarians… |
