It occurs to me, after this latest conflict with the church, just how different the current church is from the one of my youth. The first inkling began with the attempt to completly eradicate the druidic orders and many ranger groups. After the Mists rose, it was then on to the elves and the lands to the north. Years later, the dark days of the wizard purge. I would have shared the fate of many a mage. My latest suspicions came in the most opposite of forms. First, this black knight character. From what the others claim, it is in fact, one of the two sons of Lord Verdain, the younger---- Daniel, I believe his name was. I am not certain which is more frightening, that a champion of evil is general of the Selladorian army or that the black knight came from such a noble lineage. The other side of this coin came in the form of the paladin man-hunter sent by the church. Never have I read or heard anything about the church augmenting people in such a way. He claims that he was sent by the highest echelons of the church, which to my mind is the new High Father. I wonder who this new High Father could be, surely not Il-Kerk: he was old in the days of my youth and would have died long before now. |
