Like A Pincushion
I feel good, something I don't think I've stated in a long while. I feel strong, like I have a bolster of energy. Maybe it's from getting out of dungeons for a bit. Fresh air and all. Ok, so I have a crystal again. I didn't exactly want the responsibility, but someone needs to keep it close. Islan and Anwar already carry crystals. Elana showed no real interest. Dolartu is gone or he'd probably would have received it otherwise. I can't believe he just left! And to say he's going to bring back my love. That was actually a little embarassing. Jerk. Going to miss him. But there's no one else left to take care of it but me, because there's no way New Guy is going to get his grubby hands on one. I still have no clue about this guy. He'll make some comment about magic and Islan will get this confused look on his face. The wierd time he showed up. He may have used a wish to bring Elana back, but my instincts are still going haywire. Something definitely off about him. The little Arilyn on my right shoulder is just shouting "Don't trust him!" I think I'll take her advice. You see, the Arilyn on my left shoulder just wants me to off him. But that seems a little presumptous. He does take damage that the core group would have taken instead.

So we leave the city of the Orishadi. We're plodding our way south with mister muscular lizardman leading the way. Eventually we come to this rock marker. Set says it's the marker for the city Tec-Met, a cursed place, and he refused to walk through it, even if it would save us 2-3 days. Then Anwar, while checking the rock out, notices that ranger mark we've been seeing. The short of the long is we're gonna meet Set on the other side of the city after we go looking for this lone ranger.

We're going along a jungle path and after a bit we get to this clearing. There's a wolf lying dead with really big, like five foot arrows, poking out of the body. Anwar takes off across the clearing and then I found out what those arrows felt like as they tore into my body. It sucked and I looked like a pincushion. Not a good combination if you want a happy Arilyn. We figured where the arrows were coming from so I took off like a little wild thing. I mean, seriously, what can I do from 80, 100 feet away? Shake my swords and shout curses? That's effective. 'Sides, I'm more of an in-your-face type of girl anywho. I get close and lock gazes with the thing. He had this dark scaley-type skin, glowy eyes, and a mouthful of sharp teeth, Then he pointed his bows at me. Balls. Nothing like point blank shot. I just wasn't fast enough to get to him in time. Did I mention bows as in plural? Yeah, he had four arms. Not quite expecting that, I just yelled to my friends and New Guy what we were dealing with: "Big teeth! Four arms! Big teeth! Four arms!" But these guys were pretty much all show and they disapperated into smoke and slime fairly quickly.

We finally found WillIAm in this smallish ruin. At first he didn't trust us. Can't say I blame him. But he actually threatened to shoot me. I couldn't help but laugh at him. Told hime to go ahead and shoot but then I was gonna come over there and break his bow in half and shove the splintered end up his - and that was when Anwar took over. She talked to him and made him see some reason. Then Will said he was hearing things. So like the geniuses they are, Islan and New Guy stick their fat heads out the door of a building that's brightly lit and sitting on a hill so you can see it really well all around from a distance. Yeah. Stellar idea. That isn't going to send every creature in the area right to our doorstep. At least the morons had the decency to take care of the problem.

I do like Will though. He seems pretty cool. He needled Islan by asking if he's the cook. Oh my god! I don't know if Islan has ever been insulted better, and believe me I've tried. But Will, he's got a nice body and he fights with two swords as well. He's not nearly as good as I am, but then again, who is? Too bad he's not my type. I've always been more of a city girl when it comes down to it. Not that trees and stuff aren't great. I've spent more nights than I can count under the stars. There's just something about the energy that gets me. Anyway, Will says he has to go out. Anwar wasn't going to let him leave, not that she really had a say over his actions, but they were vey cute arguing with each other. She finally let him leave, but she followed. Don't know what happened though. Anwar wasn't too forthcoming with information.

But now everyone is here. Ther's a discussion as to what to do now. Like there needs to be. Why is it that we have to have a big talk about whether to fight or flee? Like we've ever backed down from anything. It's amazing we haven't died more. But we never discuss real strategy. It's always just, well, we can run or we can close off whatever is bringing the demons here and then we can run or we can kill off everything and stop what's bringing them here or. . .whatever. Time to just sit back. They don't often listen to me during strategy sessions. Sigh. Demons better hurry up. I'm bored of waiting and if I'm at least swinging my swords I can have some fun. And I want to see what this crystal can do.
