The Fate Of The World As It Pertains To The Elven King And The Ever-Enigmatic Tablets
As I have returned to my homeland, I find myself unable to escape a very strange feeling. I feel as though things have changed; and though that change is fairly obvious, things seem much more complicated than the apparent.
I believe that I have changed. Jerick, I believe has changed as well. Our group has changed dramatically with the regrettable loss of a dear friend, the death of another, new friend, and the loss of the estranged Blake. Most apparently, however, my homeland has changed a great deal.
A war has erupted since or long journey away from home. Had I never gone on that journey, I never would have understood what was happening. Even still, I can't escape the feeling that I will never, and should never, belong on either side of this horrifying war, even if it would make me an enemy of both sides.
Jerick, perhaps the man that I have trusted the most from the moment I met him, unfortunately does not feel this way. He has allied with a group of trusted friends, "the rebellion" who plan to use one side to get at another. All the while that they plan such actions, I fail to understand why Jerick wouldn't be the man to sympathize with me the most.
Jerick is one of the two remaining survivors who stood by me before the Elven king, asking only that we be allowed to continue our journey; and Jerick knew his compassion when he allowed us to live, knighting myself. Jerick being a half-elf himself, I may never comprehend why he would ever war against elves or even humans.
I see only one answer to the problem, and it may tear apart our group even further, very probably costing the lives of several, perhaps even myself. I however, see no alternative but to do everything within our power to do so.
The Elven King whom I swore to protect is dead. I have still yet sworn to protect the elves and humans alike. The elves are being led into this war by the new Elven King, who must be made aware of the repercussions of his actions. The Elven King may also have a piece or pieces of the mysterious tablet Jerick seeks.
And yet, perhaps Jerick fears marching into the Elven lands. I would understand where he come from if that is the case. Even still, we have no place in a human/elf war, or rather I do not. If anything, I must do everything within my power to stop it.
