An Icy Surprise
Into the Flayers Layer
With the trolls dead we needed to figure out what to do next. Tenedos went flying up again to inspect them and I took one of Hunters everburning torches to shed some light on them. The thrulls were standing at the edge, their vacant expressions showed no sign of a plan. Tenedos flew back down warning me of a trap as he went. I wasnt about to approach and I stayed on the opposite wall. I started to throw the torch behind them so the others might have a chance to see them. When I let it fly I cant believe what I was seeing.

What else can come from a thrulls mouth? The last time it was a ten foot green tongue. Now it was some mist that froze the very water they were standing in, trapping their feet in the ice. The mist traveled down the waterfall freezing as it went. I watched for a few moments then I heard the noise. Like ice cracking and flowing the water and ice formed up into masses in front of my comrades. I started to climb down to them as the masses attacked.

I was so high up I couldnt just drop. The fall would either injure beyond fighting or kill me. I climbed as fast as I could even jumping the last 20 feet rolling to my feet just to see the last one crumple to pieces. Pity I wanted to see how tough they were. I was worried for moment on the way down when I saw Groehl swallowed by one but the monster died the moment after and Groehl was free.

We saw to our wounds and planned out next move. Tenedos and Groehl flew to the top of the now frozen falls, Tenedos was holding onto Groehl and his magic carried them both. I climbed along the wall to help how I could. Casting a spell of protection against evil, Groehl walked among the thrulls. While in the area of his magic the thrulls seemed to come to the sense albeit somewhat confused. I started smashing the ice around their feet and Tenedos escorted down to the base with his magic. Once out of Groehls presence they returned to their comfused state. Once they were all free and down below Tenedos flew those that couldnt climb up to the top and we moved forward.

The first chamber was empty since all the thrulls were not below the falls, and we quickly moved onto the first fork to the left was were I ran into the trolls and the right was the room where the three thrulls were asleep. I wanted to check the trolls room and see if there was anything of value or use. Groehl and Tenedos argued with me but I went anyways with Hunter following. After sifting through the gore and remains I found a large amount of gold, a pair of enchanted gloves, and a strange spoon.

I dont know why but I am rather curious about the spoon. We will deal with that later. Onward.

The next room we found the thrulls, three dwarves actually. After a quick explanation we moved them to the entrance. Leaving them in the confused state we moved on. I quickly checked the room to the left where I found the bones and bodies last time. There was nothing that had changed but I decided to bring back one of the skulls with me. Tenedos seemed to be disturbed by the sight of it. I decided to keep it, just for a time I wanted to mess with him again.

Now the last room, the mindflayers must be waiting for us in here. I have to admit I am nervous, facing mindflayers alone would be a challenge. The real reason I am nervous is the last time I checked this room there was a rather large and strange metal golem in the corner. My skills are limited when dealing with something like that, theres no weak spots to aim for. This next battle regardless of how many there are, I think will be the greatest challenge yet...and our greatest victory.
