We Meet The Flayers
I hate it when they fly.
With the iron golem destroyed we fell back to the treasure room to rest up. Tenedos used his magic to create a safe place for us to hide. He laid a rope on the ground and cast his spell. The rope rose up on its own till it reached the ceiling disappearing into it. We followed him up finding a room of descent size with a sort of window that somehow looked down on the open door.

We rested a while allowing the magic users to regain their powers and the rest of us to recover from the battle. After a few hours Rorric woke me saying he saw a mindflayer entering the treasure room. We watched as a number of thrulls entered and exited carrying the large pots of treaure away. They were relocating. Once the coast was clear we moved out, we took our time searching the rest of the rooms to make sure they had all left.

At the water fall we found one of the large pots. I moved forward checking for traps. There werent any and I couldnt make out the writing on the urn, seeing this Tenedos moved up with me, Groehl close behind. As they studied the urn trying to figure out what was inside I noticed movement out the corner of my eye, I looked over the edge to see two of the mindflayers floating up towards us. I quietly warned the others and we backed off the edge. My first thought was to pull back into the cave and rush them once they came up on the ledge. Tenedos started using gestures as code and said we should hit them just as they clear the top before they reach the ground. I agreed to the idea and I feel that was a mistake. Not only did that leave them room to act but it also didnt bring them close enough for some of us to hit them.

Tenedos attacked while they were still surprised but unfortunately he missed. The mind flayers then attacked stunning most of us. Argus leaped from the ledge grabbing hold of one of the flayers, proceeding to wrestle with it in mid air. Groehl was able to use his powers to restore us from the stun and bring us back into the fight. It was a long battle involving magic, falling bears and a particularly nasty third flayer who was able to remain invisible the whole battle. I found my self unable to act because of the disadvantage of their flight. Near the end Tenedos levitated himself and gave me a lift to the bottom but we arrived to late. The third flayer who seemed to be the most powerful used a magic spell to teleport away.

I am sick of these tunnels and I cant wait to return. I know we still must seek the other four elements but I wish to return to my duty of seeking the Hammer of Delhedir. I only hope I find it before that fool of a paladin.
