Best Of The Best
Ha! It feels good to have the road under my boots again. This jot must be temper, however, by the sad state of affairs plaguing the world. From what I have been told, the carnage left in the Salty Dog was caused by a demon. If this is true, which I have no reason to doubt, a powerful tanar'ri is on the loose on our plane. Troubling.....
The group I have joined up with decided to head back to their headquarters, Verdain Keep. I am pleased to see that some things have changed for the better. Lord Verdain has done a commendable job in restoring what was once ruins, back to the proud home of a noble lineage. Oh but a reception we recieved when we arrived at Tuallen, with a new companion in tow. Ah, but I get ahead of myself; first, to this new traveler. How he reminds me of my old friend, Tellsa. A warrior of virtue, god-touched and champion of heaven.
Now, back to our arrival. The enemy is strong indeed from what I have seen at Tuallen. An army of zombies yes, but towering above, was an undead giant! Slaying such a legendary creature of good as a storm giant is a feat in of itself but to raise it as an evil abomination speaks of power as dark as it is stron. Fortunately, I am familiat enough with combation the titan-folk and old methods still prove effective. With the victory, and Tuallen secure, at least for now, we have again been sent out, this time to seek help from resistance groups located in Sellador.
Along the way, we passed through some small farm communities. In one such hamlet, we slmost ran into trouble. It seems the rest of these travellers have very little experience being around the holy knights, also known a paladins. I thank the memory of Tellsa, may she rest in peace, for my own experiences. Dante, for this is the young knight's name, acted in accord of his calling and youth, when a group of Selladorian soldiers were beating and arresting a man for nothing more than being unable to pay the harsh tax laws set by the theocracy. Knowing that force would only lead to disaster, I decided to take care of the situation. *chuckl* Assuming the guise of their feared leader, the Black Knight, I made as if to kill the man and ordered the troops to a southern outpost. Temporary it may be, but at least for now these people will have some respite.
On we continued, finally arriving at our destination, where we were to contact an underground syndicate of anti-church rebels. In order to gain access to this group, we were required to fight in an
underground gladiatorial gambling tournament. *chuckles again* It is amazing how people under-score the elderly. Though it cost me some of my knowledge, I now only came out the final Victor, but hopefully furthered the growth of magic and the desire to learn. Now all that is left to see is how helpful these rebels can be.
