Who Let The Trolls Out?
A moment to rest
I just have a moment to write, as there has been a break in the action. We set off today with the intention of getting to know our enemy a bit better. Tenedos and Rorrin decided the best way to see what we were up against was to combine their powers of stealth and magic. Groehl, Derrinar and I lay ever spell we could think of on the two to increase their chances of stealth, resistance, and maneuverability and sent the two off. As the rest of us waited in hushed tones we looked to Groehl who was able to monitor how the two were doing. After long moments Groehl stated that the two were heading back in our direction fairly hastily. The Groehls features darkened as he turned to run toward the direction the two had traveled. We called out to ask what happened and he replied that Tenedos is hurt badly. As I ran I felt a primal instinct welling up inside of me, with almost no effort of my own I watched as my own hands began to meld into giant paws and I found it much easier to travel running on all fours. I could feel my speed and strength grow to overwhelming levels. Arriving first to the scene I quickly spotted Tenedos huddled in a corner covered in blood and fading fast. Like a mother bear guards over her cubs I immediately began to cast healing spells on Tenedos and guard over him to protect him from any other harm. Soon the others arrived and Groehl was able to fully mend Tenedos with his superior healing powers.
Just as we began to ask Tenedos what had happened and where Rorrin had gone Groehl again looked grimly at the party and stated that his brother was hurrying back with great haste and extreme panic. Knowing Rorrin and how cool and collected he is, and trusting Groehls judgment I instinctively cast a spell to take on the physical strength, endurance, and speed of a werewolf. I felt a new surge of extreme strength and dexterity flow through me as my face again contorted to take on the appearance of a werewolf, with a brown bears body. As I heard something draw closer I looked to the top of the waterfall and saw as Rorrin flung himself over the edge reaching in vain for a bit of hanging rock to grasp on. As began to fall my thoughts flashed before me of the time I could do nothing to save him from the machines that had ended his life months ago, I saw Jas being torn apart by horrid water creatures, and I saw Kambie covered in acid being burned alive. Landing on the ground could be fatal from that height; landing on me would hurt us both badly but possibly save Rorrins life. To say there was a choice to be made would trivialize my friendship to Rorrin, as I ran I judged the place he would land planted my feet and braced for the impact. Even through my great size and strength I was slammed flat to the ground, I felt ribs shatter my shoulder dislocate from its socket and my right wrist snap in two. I knew the pain was bad for Rorrin as well as we both let out yelps of pain. As I felt Rorrin roll off my back and saw Groehl running to our aid, knew he would be okay. With his masterful healing Groehl had us both back to fighting condition in moments. It was then we learned what had made Rorrin jump off the waterfall.
Cave trolls, two very large and very angry cave trolls, stood at the top of the waterfall looking angrily down at us. Tenedos wasted no time putting an ingenious plan into action. He flew up near the trolls, cast a spell at one of them and actually pulled him off the waterfall inflicting tremendous damage on him as he slammed to the ground. Sergeant quickly drew up his sword and with a mighty blow dealt the creature a terrible wound nearly killing it. It did not take long for the rest of us to jump into the fight and finish the first creature within seconds. The second troll had other plans though; he made a running charge for Tenedos to grab onto him. Much to Tenedos dismay the troll somehow managed to grab hold of him and would not let go. Seeing Tenedos trying to break free again reminded me that I have dedicated myself to protecting my friends, all of them, no matter the past or disagreements that have been had. I ran up to troll hanging off of Tenedos, stood up on my hind legs and grabbed hold of the creature throwing him to the ground with me. He thrashed and kicked at me trying to deal a fierce blow but could do no more than scratch me. I made sure of my grip, grabbed hold of him pinning his arms to his side and slamming him neck first into the ground. Using my weight I pressed down on him effectively stopping all movement using my claws and teeth to rend at his flesh I could do little to inflict serious damage but then again he could do nothing to fight back. The rest of my friends joined the fight to finish him; however it was Koden that dealt the fatal attack as he racked his claws across his head and biting down on his neck. The fight was fierce and I doubt this will be all we find here. I will write more when we are safe.
