Gnomish Punching Bag
A narrative on getting beaten senseless
As we approached the tunnel to the Iron Golem I was anything but thrilled. Whenever it seems that the party is in grave danger Im always asked to go first. Mind you Im not upset, I would do anything to help my friends, but that doesnt help reduce the pain of getting crushed by a giant metal golem. As we walked into the chamber I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was no iron golem at all, yet I was extremely dismayed to see not one but three Mindflayers starring back at us. These horrid unworldly monsters had the nerve to actually ask us if we were willing to join them as their thralls. To think, going from a guardian of the natural world to the pet of this unnatural horror would be the greatest of insult. With great resolve our party stood against these creatures and prepared to attack. Rorrin, Koden, and Tenedos all made mighty attacks against the creatures but they didnt fight back, they didnt even seem phased by the damage being dealt to them. As Koden looked back at me I could tell he was confused; it was then that I heard the sound of heavy footsteps. I turned back to see what it was but saw nothing a split second later I was hit harder than I have ever been hit before, even in my brown bear form the blow upended me tossing me aside as if I were nothing more than a stone being kicked down the road. Stunned from the attack I looked around frantically to see my attacker but again saw nothing there. Was this a trick of the Mindflayers? Had they managed to take control of my mind? Just then Tenedos threw a......bag of flour.....

Who carries a bag of flour around with them?

Anyway, this bag of flour lands squarely in front of me and bursts leaving me covered in flour, but also revealing the source of my headache, the lower half of an invisible iron golem. Using a rust metal spell I was able to deal some damage to the creature but like all of our efforts it seemed to do little to this hulking mass of metal. Hunters shots seemed to deflect off of its chest, my claws only seemed to scratch the surface of it. It was a grueling fight to endure, in the end it seemed that only Sergeant was able to deal significant damage to the metal mass. His skill with a sword has yet to disappoint. It seems that we even picked up the aid of one of the thralls we were able to free. With all of our combined effort it was Hunter that finally drove a arrow straight through the golems chest grinding it to a halt.

Though I was not able to examine them closely it appears the Mindflayers were nothing more than illusions, but they must be close by to control the golem. We need to rest quickly and continue our hunt for them if we stand a chance to survive in this place.
