The Crystal Tear
Journal 03 of the Fellowship Of The Crystal Tear
I dreamt of a man in the night, a robed figure. He pointed towards the ruins of the old capitol and said, "What I have hidden so long ago, now you must find." I awoke from that dream with a start, at approximately the same time as my companions Nodia and Islan. After a short discussion, we determined that we had all been given this dream that was more than a dream. It was a message that we were chosen to perform something. My only thought was that I had finally found a clue to my purpose here.

As the full moon rose high into the night sky, we made our way down into the crater where the city had once been, in search of a cave of some kind. On our way we found two others who had apparantly been visited by this same man, and given direction to do the same as we. It was confirmed, some higher power had chosen us to perform some task for them.

Near the bottom we located a small hole in the ground. It was there that we had been sent. After a few moments of bickering between the elves as to who would lead the way, I took the initiative to go myself. After several close calls with the tough terrain, we made our way to bottom, to a room with three murals on the walls.

After some debate on their meaning we final came to the concensus that they outlined a three stages of the battle against Naresh that had occured. One appeared to be of the old Elven queen, Aesia, giving her life to send him away forever. Another detailed the falling of the comets across the face of Geas itself. The last outlined a battle against the god itself, portraying a group of humans fighting alongside the elves, driving the god away with what appeared to be a crystal.

Ah, that's the boring part. I'll just fast forward to what I meant to say.

After making our way to some other world it seemed, we found ourselves on the presence of a creature who sought to test us. It appeared to be some sort of archon of the heavens perhaps. We fought for several minutes against the creature, when I realized that it was pulling its blows. It was at that moment that I realized that not every battle was one of life and death, some were merely challenges.

I was amazed to find that a creature, whom was obviously of much superior strength to any of us, would actually take mercy upon us. It knew its own strength and meant not to flaunt it. Such a strange thing to take in. Such a strange thing indeed.

Through this act, and through a challenge of a boy, we were able to find recieve that which we came for, a piece of that crystal shard. A piece of the very tear of creation. The tear that was shead on the very day that Lahantwene caused The Sundering of the realm of mortals and dreams.

We had been entrusted not only to this portion of it, but also set to the task of recovering the other five pieces. I believe I finally understand my connection to all of this. Perhaps I was chosen as Lahantwene's representative to recovering this ancient magic. Either way, it does feel good to at least have a semblance of a purpose.
