Another Elf Bites The Dust
Derrinars homecoming is cut short by an Abberation and Kambei death.
In the midst of an amazing discovery brought about by a chain of events that have me questioning my limitations I am instantly struck by a most potent poison that apparently knocked me unconscious. When I finally awoke I tried to find my brother but I had trouble seeing through the darkness that possessed the area we were in. I knew some arcane user must have been involved since I knew not what had transpired but nonetheless I cured my own wounds for the moment until I was able to see again. It was just after the moment in which I came to, that I was walloped by a large dwarven axe. I knew the weapon from my training in Citadel and could only assume Ivan was striking me.

In response to the attacks I took a few steps back to gain my footing and then unleashed a heal spell upon myself followed by a holy magical attack. I figured if my friends were around that they’d be safe but it would easily allow me to see if it was just Ivan attacking me. Either way my attack didn’t work or Ivan was getting a new strength from an unknown source.

Just at the moment in which I gained a vision of Ivan again he lashed out with this giant tongue and grappled me. Tied up for the moment, I thought of nothing better to do than counter-balance his stranglehold on myself with some healing. I was barely able to free my hand enough to cast the spell but with all my strength I pulled free enough to summon Throrn’s healing powers upon myself.

I and Gim drew most of the beast’s attack for the rest of the fight while the group came to their senses, that is besides Kambei who seemed to be without a heart beat for the moment. With a lightning bolt casting constantly from Derrinar I suppose Ivan was too distracted to block the last shot because it ripped through his skin with a great vengeance and furious anger. I started to tend to the needs of the group after Ivan’s lifeless body hit the floor but alas I believe my efforts would be too late for Kambei.

As we discussed what we’d do with the body and Kambei, Peak Hunter decided to start stripping off Ivan’s armor in an attempt to keep it all for him. I found the act irresponsible and out of character and was glad when my brother scolded him for the act. Just then the blind town elder approached on the arm of another man and questioned us as to our actions. It was at this moment when I realized a crowd was building up that I placed Ivan’s helmet back upon his head. I wasn’t sure if they were ready to see their hero as a villain so I tried to hide his shame for the moment. To my regret they quickly figured out the truth about Ivan and the missing people from the town.

In a shocking turn Kambei’s ghostly form soon appeared to us shortly after he was struck down. He tried to possess his dead form but was unable to sustain it. At this moment we tried an experiment and found that if I took the orb away from Kambei that he’d start to weaken.

There was a moment in time where I felt guilty for doubting Tenedos’ words but after seeing Kambei turned into a vile ghostly form because he has a lust for knowledge at whatever cost that guilt soon turned to anger. I can’t believe Tenedos didn’t leave the stone in the eastern mountains…but yet I CAN believe he took it and he will be under my stern surveillance now that this treachery has caused us more problems.

Because of the stone we were cast out of town for the night and asked not to return until we dispose of the evil. I feared for the worst so I agreed to the demand. In the morning Gim tried reviving Kambei with what powers he had but I feared that Kambei’s shame from his sister was too heavy of a burden for him to want to return. Gim posed a different cause for his wanting to stay dead but I saw right through it… nothing but shame can leave a man without the desire to live. I will again continue to heal and fight through all adversity for all my fallen comrades over the years. For Throrn!
