The Dragons Death
Grokbuk pays the price again
The dragon had made its challenge giving us the night to rest and face it at our best. The arrogance of it angered me. The next day we entered the cave.

The dragon surprised us at first dealing blows that would have killed the average warrior. Sergent, Groehl, and Gim faced it head on while Grokbuk aided with his magic. Hunter took a high perch to better rain his arrows down on the beast. I tried to get an angle on the beast knowing that it could easily kill me with a single attack. I soon realized that I was out of my element and tried to help it what way I could. Before I could get positioned for a strike the beast burrowed in to the cave wall. Gim and Sergeant had both dealt it serious wounds, and the dragon was resorting to cunning. We readied ourselves for the next attack.

It came from above. The dragon surfaced on the ledge above us. Most of us were able to take cover behind the cave wall, but hunter was completely exposed to the dragons lighting breath. The dragon retreated farther into the cave out of our sight. Before we had time to plan a womans scream came from deeper in the cave. I knew Groehl would charge ahead so I quickly readied my rod of ropes. Using magic Groehl ascended to the top of the ledge before any of us had a chance to follow. Sergeant and Rurik held onto as I activated the rod and the three of us were lifted to the ledge. We all moved forward as one and that was a mistake. The dragon had tricked us, making its own voice mimic that of a woman. Once we were all up top it let loose with its breath attack once again. This time it filled the cave hitting everyone in its path save for me, I was still suspended from the ceiling on the rod of ropes and managed to duck behind some of the rocks. Grokbuk fared the worst in this, the poor goblin was unable to endure the lightning blast and collapsed to the ground. It was obvious by his blackened form and lack of movement he was dead.

Sergeant and Gim charged the beast tearing into it with reckless abandon. Sergeant finished the dragon with one mighty swing cleaving the dragons head from its body.

We moved past the dragon and found a false wall. Inside were more captives and the object of our search, the air touched Aria. Once her bindings were off she vanished before we could tell her who we were. Now what, here I thought we had reached the end of our search for the air element and she goes and vanished into thin air. Anyways, we spent the next few months in the goliaths village. The snows had closed all the passes down to our home so we had no choice. The gnomes assured us that they could now fix their airship and the fly us down the mountain. This gave us plenty of time to sort through the dragons hoard, rest, and resurrect Grokbuk. I have to admit I was soon bored out of mind. The airship cannot be finished soon enough.
