There And Back Again, A Dwarf's Tale!
Re-visiting the Church of Throrn in an Attempt to Revive Rorrin.
Sometimes things happen in life that make you completely reevaluate everything. Early in the day I spent most of my time arguing with Eoin about Throrn and the power that he grants me and the way he works through me. Again he belittled the god’s power and in turn disgraces my very existence. While on the battlefield we encountered a construct so powerful that it was….well it….it was able to kill my brother without even much effort. Granted… my brother is not the most stout or well equipped adventurer but he’s shown his worth and has not been overcome by any of the giant spiders or beasts that we’ve fought before. As grim as our travels have been thus far I never even thought that anyone’s life was truly in danger with Throrn’s power to assist us.

At the moment I saw my brother fall in battle I focused all my energy into killing the constructs with drills for hands and a sonic blast that could crush the earlobes of an orc. I quickly summoned up a magical sword that I had used earlier to attack the mechanical swords in the other room. It proved to be effective and gave me a chance to help heal the rest of my compatriots while the sword fought in battle.

Shortly into the battle the door that we had just uncovered opened and revealed a short goblin with what appeared to be the controls for these monstrosities. Lochlan spotted the goblin first, brushed me out of the way and ran his weapon straight through its ribcage. I would have been more impressed with the blow had it not been for my brother’s lifeless body lying before me.

I remembered in my studies of a few higher level spells that could be cast to bring back a life that had been decimated much like my brothers, but I had no means to pay for it or the skill to master that sort of spell so I took a moment to think. The group didn’t have much to say to me since they all felt my pain. Even the boisterous Eoin was silent for the moment. After I gathered my composure I told everyone I’d need to travel to the church of Throrn in Citadel. Cobblepot had a teleportation device in the center of town that would help me in that sort of travel and we all gathered up Rorrin’s remains and headed towards there. Lochlan paid for my voyage there and was the most outward with his sympathy for my loss. Lochlan told me later that he went back and destroyed the machines from the warehouse. I just hoped that they healed up completely after the battle since my brother was not the only one who was badly injured… he was just the only one that I knew I… I mean that Throrn could heal.

A few watched as I passed through the portal and seemed like they had something to say but once they saw my face they could not bare to even open their lips. Once I entered Citadel my foot couldn’t carry me fast enough to the church. At first I was relieved to be back in the city but this was not the way I wanted to return. I burst open the doors of the cathedral and almost broke of a hinge. I started calling for anyone to help me and a high cleric with a scar over his eye came and told me that he’d take care of everything. My faith was completely restored in Throrn as soon as my brother awakened from his rest. There was an awkward conversation as first but then I expressed my relief and joy towards the church. The cleric then pulled my brother aside and told him something… I gathered from my brother that they were telling him the cost to revive someone but he wouldn’t say any specifics.
My brother and I quickly realized that our mission was not even close to over and even though we had seen the biggest obstacle we’d never expected… we were still ready to face whatever was ahead of us. I paid for the journey back through the portal to Cobblepot and we made our way back to Gim’s house to eat, rest, and relax for the journey that laid ahead of us would be full of more tests, trials, and tribulations.
