Plans And Fights
I would rather fight my enemies than my friends.
We had to pass through Freeport to reach hobbe’s end and it was here that the priest of Lurl hailed us. He apparently wanted to speak to of us the happenings of the island and of the death of those that attacked us, he apparently saw their bodies being carried away by the red and black robes. He wouldn’t speak in the street so he invited us into the temple for privacy, of course Groehl wasn’t about to enter the temple of an evil god so he waited for us outside.

The priest told us how the thugs were not sent after us by his orders and that he held no grudge toward us for their deaths. He went on to tell us a little more about the orders and how they function. I have to admit I have been suspicious that they were involved with the aboleths at first but now it looks like there is another player here. Thanks to the priest we learned there is a secret cult that worships the aboleths and do their bidding. Of course we must still go to Hobbe’s End to pursue our only lead to finding them. I hope Tenedos can pull this off.

All in all the rest of the walk to Hobbe’s End was uneventful, save for one point we passed a group of black robes led by an elf who, though attractive for an elf, looked as if she would rather eat your soul then smile at you. She gave off an eerie presence that made me a little uneasy but that was it, some of the others were a little more affected by it. After Gim and Groehl spoke a few words with them, and I mean a few cause the elf wasn’t much for conversation, we let them pass and we continued on our way.

The sign of the Turtle, who thought that name up, seriously who would pick a turtle fro the name of a tavern? Anyways, this was the place where Tenedos would attempt to impersonate the leader of the thugs, I hope this works cause only Gim, Kano, and I are close and we are across the street. Groehl Lochlan, and Jas are a block or two away so they don’t alery anyone to our presence; they’re skills at stealth are a bit lacking for this type of work. One bit of luck was that I still had a scroll of Clairvoyence in my pack from our earlier adventures, Groehl was able to look in on Tenedos for a moment with it and if he didn’t see anything he would start running to us the moment it ended.

I guess the contact showed just after the scroll expired and Groehl and the others were on their way when the dwarf came out of the tavern. We watched him a moment and when Tenedos came rushing out after him I chased after him. Jas had caught up just as I started to run and we matched pace, but even we couldn’t keep up with Kano and Gim once he turned into his bear form.

The dwarf ran down a Dead End alley and turned ready to fight. Gim and Kano were the first to reach him followed by Jas and Myself. We started to fight him and the others caught up quickly. He was a tough one but Jas managed to wrestle him to the ground, disarming him and finally knocking him out. Lochlan picked up the dwarfs sword and this would cause trouble in a moment. We questioned the dwarf, he resisted even as far as biting off his tongue causing Jas to make him retch it up and Groehl to reattach it. Gross but a bit amusing to watch Jas have to sift through puke for a severed tongue. Just as we seemed to be getting somewhere with the questioning Lochlan takes the dwarfs head off with his own sword, then attacks us! Let me tell you he’s a lot to handle, especially since we didn’t want to have to kill him. After we beat him a bit and Jas again wrestled him to the ground, Lochlan came around after Jas knocked his sword away. The sword turned out to be enchanted with evil magic, I definitely for getting rid of that thing as soon as possible.

Tenedos picked up the sword, seeming not to be affected by it, and volunteered to carry it in his pack. Better keep an eye on him, I still don’t know him very well yet and I don’t trust that sword. With that settle we threw the dwarfs corpse in the refuse hoping this would buy some time for us to get some distance from there and exited the alley.

And just when I thought we were in the clear who is waiting for us but the black robed elf. She knew what had happened and was waiting to collect us. She was does that eerie feeling again to us and some of the others seemed to be having some trouble with it. I didn’t like the feeling either but I didn’t have much trouble with it. We agreed to follow here, what else could we do our only lead to figuring this out had just been killed by one of our own. She led us to the southern island, a red robe Gim was familiar with joined us along the way making it easier; he got the black robe to stop what ever trick she was using.

On the southern island they wanted to question us about what they knew, we agreed to exchange information. They knew quite a bit about what was going on and cleared up my suspicions of the wailing rock. They also wanted us to turn the evil sword over to them so they could destroy it. Most everyone else except Gim didn’t trust them, was all for giving it to them. Though I believe there were different reasons for everyone’s refusal to surrender the sword, it was all but unanimous vote against it. We are resting the night here, everyone a little at odds about the sword but I really don’t care. As long its kept away from me I’ll be happy. Perhaps in the morning our next move will be a little more clear.
