Two Trolls Slip On Coal And Land On Sergeants Pole
We entered the cave of the Mind Flayers and lead two Trolls out to their demise.
Our strategy for our encounter with the mind flayers consisted of a simple plan of cat and mouse. We would attempt to send in a couple of our craftier companions, Tenedos and Rorrin, inside the cave to lure out the larger of the flayers. I thought it was a risky plan but if these two valued the mission over their lives who am I to say what they should and shouldn’t do. In my mind it’s about time that they both showed the courage needed to meet the enemy face to face. I truly was praying for victory and was hoping with the extra prayers now being sent up by Sergeant that we’d have an extra advantage in this situation.

After we readied our prayers and bodies for the journey ahead we were off. Many, many hours of trotting at an accelerated pace until finally our elemental guide stopped. He informed us that the base was but minutes away and we realized that this would be a good point to start our plan. I, Tenedos, and Gim started praying and casting spells upon Tenedos and Rorrin in preparation for their journey. Because of my concern I also cast a Status spell upon them in which I would be able to monitor their condition and position in the cave in case they get lost or injured.

Within moments of saying our goodbyes they were out of view. Minutes later I could tell that they stopped and starting ascending up a mountain or cliff. The elemental informed us that this mountain climb was the only way into the cave. I said another short prayer for Rorrin to not fall to his death and to my surprise he did not. Shortly, after making the climb up I could sense Tenedos tense up for some reason and quickly make his way out of the cave. It was not but a step into his descent that I instantly felt the pain that was surging through his body. I thought to myself hmm… I believe the wizard can fly when needed but at the same time I think he may have fallen off the cliff.

My first reaction was to run to his aid and without telling the others where I went I started my run. Gladly, the others joined in and on the way I informed them of Tenedos’ fall. It was at that moment where Gim turned into a bear and burst ahead of the pack. I later found out through Tenedos’ utter disgust that Gim tried healing his wounds by cleaning them with his bear tongue. I found the ritual interesting but knew that Gim loved and cared for all of his friends and couldn’t bear seeing any of them injured. Along the journey I could also sense my brother going deeper and deeper into the cave. He would make it to a certain point, stop, turn around, and then proceed down another path just the same. While I was healing Tenedos I sensed a different for Rorrin.

For the first time in his journey through the caves he appeared to be running full speed towards us. Just as I quietly informed the group of this change Gim noticed my brother taking a flying leap off of the top of the waterfall leading down the side of the mountain. With blind love and adoration Gim braced for Rorrin’s fall and even took the brunt of the damage from it when he let Rorrin land on his back. I thought the act was a bit silly since I could easily have healed just Rorrin up from the damage and now had to split my healing powers amongst the two, but nonetheless I appreciated the gesture as did my brother.

Just then after healing Rorrin of his broken ribs he pointed up to the top of the waterfall where a monstrous Troll seemingly too stupid to realize there was a drop, fell into the waist deep water taking a large hit. Quickly, our group jumped into action with Sergeant ripping into his skin with his large sword and Rorrin finishing him off with a gash to his face. Tenedos, who then took to flight made an illusion with six of himself in order to fool the troll, started taunting the beast to chase him off the cliff. The Troll took to the bait but instead of falling he grappled onto the real Tenedos and hung from midair. Tenedos quickly dropped the Troll into our combat where Gim and the Troll began a massive wrestling match for the ages. At first the Troll appeared to take the lead but eventually Gim’s animal instincts kicked in and he pinned the Troll to the ground.

I took this opportunity with the group all starting to pound on the evil beast to flex my muscle. Granted I’m not the strongest but I think the group realized that I was a force to be reckoned with. I mean the Troll did give me an evil look as I scraped a well placed cut above his eye. In fact, after my attack Koden was easily able to finish off the Troll and in my mind the attack that I gave weakened him enough to be killed. But alas, all glory must go to Throrn for his healing powers from myself and Sergeant’s unnatural strength all are do to his omnipotent power. For Throrn!
