Frozen Slime Works Every Time
We encounter slimes from a waterfall, and finally reach the Mind Flayers
With a moment for short reflection, I stood at the base of a large waterfall gazing up wondering where all the water was indeed coming from. It was at this moment of pondering, when I started to see the water harden. It appeared as though it was suddenly freezing over but I gave no thought to it other than to jump for my life as the wave passed over the ankle deep water I once was standing in.

I must say I had an immense amount of joy fill my heart that a dwarf of my stature was able to leap out of the water like I did but at the same time I noticed a gelatinous monster pouring itself out of the frozen waterfall. Fear swept over my heart once the creature seemed to focus in on myself and Gim. I tried to bolster Gim’s defenses with a spell and then stood behind him for support but the creature just passed through Gim and went straight for me. Luckily, Derrinar cast a spell on me either that gave me a spring in my step when I used my reflexes but it was not use because the creature kept attempting to cover me with his ooze.

Eventually, after the third attempt I was completely surrounded by the gelatinous mass and was powerless to do anything but take the punishment from his weight being draped over me. But…no matter how dire my situation, I had all the confidence in the world that Gim would be able to free me…mainly because just before I was taken, I empowered his paw with a holy flame. It was at this moment when my head began to see a vision of Throrn’s purpose for my life. I had been spending most of my moments in combat sitting back and waiting in the wings for others to do the dirty work. This shall be no more. I have grown to weary of doing nothing but casting.

I was given my mighty weapon of Throrn for a reason and I shall soon show the others that reason. It was at that moment of clarity that I saw Gim’s paw completely rip through the frozen mass and my lifeless body fell to the ground before him. I was thankful to the entire group for their efforts and healed up those that needed it. I must say I was again embarrassed to do nothing more than heal my own wounds up again. I believe for the second straight fight I have felt less than adequate. I know my god has given me an inner strength that is unmatched by any of the physical prowess that the rest of them possess. It’s time I harness this power and prove to the rest of the group without a doubt that Throrn can lead us to victory.

With my new purpose for life in view I was quickly flown up by Tenedos to where some Mind Flayers were controlling a few innocent people. For some reason we both had the same intentions in keeping them alive but keeping them out of our way. Perhaps, Tenedos has finally given up on doing things the conniving way and doing things the proper way…or perhaps he just realizes that fighting keeps us chasing our beards. Either way I appreciated his actions in leading the controlled people under my spell of protection down the waterfall and keeping them down there for safety. Throughout several halls inside the cave we found many a lost souls which we were able to lead down the mountain or into another room and tied up for their own sake.

Eventually we narrowed our path down to two more options where we could go and after Rorrin came back with a report of one of the rooms being empty we knew that we needed to prepare for battle inside the next room. I cast a couple spells to help the group but in the end I cast one to strengthen me with a new untapped power. For the first time in my life I’ve welcomed the War diety that Throrn has led me to. Through his teachings I’ve found not only the reasoning but the purpose for the teachings of Throrn…and now with this knowledge in hand I empower myself up and turn towards battle and the eventual end of the Mind Flayers. For Throrn!
