Fire Bear Cannon One...Fire Cannon Two!
We finally encounter the Mind Flayers and crush them on the side of the waterfall.
Exhuasted, near death, and without a prayer to Throrn left in my soul…Tenedos turns to me and tells me without words to climb this rope and seek slumber. For some reason, in my weakened state this seemed like a good enough idea. My eyes felt weak and a bit frail like the times after we traveled for days and days on end and just needed a good night sleep. It was inside this other world that I fell into a deep slumber.

Just as soon as I fell asleep I was awakened by the group. Granted, physically, it felt like I hadn’t slept at all but I knew that was false from the stories the group shared about the mind flayers entering and leaving the room.

We all noticed that the barrels of treasure had been taken from the room we had just gone back to and that all was left was a trail leading out of the cave. We walked and walked until we reached the rim of the cave exit opening up to the waterfall when just then we noticed a barrel. As some of the group started discussing the happenings of the past night myself, Tenedos, and Rorrin charged forward to look at the barrel and while we were there we happened upon two flayers who started floating up towards our position.

I motioned for the group to ready itself and we all took action as the surprised flayers came into view. Courageously, the Half-elemental Monk with us took a flying leap and landed on one of them mid-air. At the same time Gim…with Koden not far behind tried the same method. Except, Gim the bear, didn’t quite make the jump and ended up falling a good hundred feet…thankful for him he has a soft tail to land on. Koden on the other hand landed on the second flayer and crushed him into the ground below.

While I must admit it was a reckless move and the bear would no doubt need Throrn’s healing…I was equally impressed with his loyalty. Nonetheless he continued our attack on the first flayer with Hunter occasionally landing an arrow into our friend just as often as our enemy. Again I realized my powers would be needed for this recklessness, but unlike Koden there was no worthy ‘cause for his actions because the monster died shortly thereafter. It was at this moment when the group kept motioning towards a break in the waterfall and saying that they thought another hidden mind flayer had just come into view. I cautiously took the advice of Tenedos and cast a powerful spell to try and dispel the invisibility that we assumed the creature was using much like on the Golem. It was shortly after I cast the spell that I figured it failed, but instead something quite humorous happened.

A loud *thud* roared through the caverns as the last flayer fell one hundred feet towards the bottom where the rest of the group greeted him with many a vicious attacks. Somehow, he managed a spell to teleport him to safety but I knew that he wouldn’t be back after the beating he just took. My only praise is for Throrn and his omnipotent powers. Through his teachings I will continue to spread the good word about glorious combat and honorable battle. For Throrn!
