The Next Move
Too little information and too much opinion.
And here I thought our journey home would be relatively easy. It wasnt enemies that made the trip so trying, it was the bickering. We were faced with the choice of seeking the Hammer of Delhidir or continuing our search for the other three elements. With no lead in how to find the elements I thought we should seek out the hammer since we had at least some leads to that. Gim, Hunter, and Derrinar refused to listen to any of it and insisted we seek the elements because a shared dream they had. The best part was the dream only said to seek the four winds! How can you call that guidance?

Groehl communed with Throrn to see if he could learn of anything to help us. He returned telling us Throrn told him to seek the hammer and that Ordrin, that damned paladin, had found it. Granted Throrn didnt tell Groehl when to seek it or what was the priority, neither did he share if Ordrin had survived finding the hammer. There was just too little information to decide on for certain.

In hopes of helping everyone understand the importance of the hammer I revealed my mission from the church of Throrn to seek out the hammer. It did not make one difference. Gim who was the most out spoken refused to hear any reason not to seek the elements, he kept going on how he wanted nothing to do with religion just because it placed importance on a weapon. All in all I didnt understand his arguments half of the time being he kept saying he had never heard of this or that but to tell the truth when would he have. He lived in the wilderness adrift from society since he quit alchemy scholl, and even then what would he have known of dwarven religion and faith. He seems to be speaking from personal opinion rather than from experience.

It was when Hunter and the druids started suggesting splitting out number to seek both, that Groehl and I talked of offering a compromise. Rather that risk the entire quest by pursuing our goals with half strength we suggested we all return to Citadel and seek more guidance there. I for one want to consult the church on all that we have learned and to ask them to attempt to locate the hammer if it has been removed from its resting place and to commune with Throrn for a few more answers. I have trusted my comrades so far but things are getting muddle with everyone voicing their own opinions with little information to judge this decisions sound. I admit when I first spoke of seeking the hammer I was being brash, I cannot be certain that Ordrin is even still alive let alone returning with the hammer. But I cant accept the others demands that we seek the elements till I receive guidance from a source I feel I can trust. This is a threat to the dwarven homeland and I will ask a dwarven power for guidance. My only concern is for my home and I will not risk its safety by just going along with the plan of someone else.

When we finally reach Citadel we first visited the League. We received payment and accreditation for the writ, and Gim received a parcel from the Alchemist Academy. They sent him is graduation certificate. He deserves recognition for all he has done. There was also a note for Hunter as well as some dark news. The note was found among the dead of an ambushed caravan. The blood stains on it were proof of the fate they had met. Hunter read the letter and told us what it said, that there was some sort of monster enslaving his people and that they needed his help. They hoped he could enlist the dwarves to help free his people and to understand that their raids were not their wish but the monster they were forced to serve. At first I was going to tell hunter to go help his own people, but he remembered something from his people’s lore about the four winds. Convenient timing that is I wont call him a liar. He wouldnt do that just to trick us, if he says his people know then Ill believe him. If the church cannot provide me with evedince that I should seek the hammer immediately then I will help Hunter free his people.

In all of this I have another great worry. I fear my brother did not take the revelation of my mission very well. I fear he wonders why I was chosen and not him. I feel I understand the church leaders decision, that they needed someone who would stay alive knowing that recovery of the hammer is more important than the method, that stealth may very well be the key and not the strength to charge head on into battle. I am a warrior at heart though my methods are to use shadow and advantage. I hope Groehl can understand why it had to be this way and that even though the mission was given to me, that I we not be able to accomplish it without his aid.
