Beneath The Streets Of Citadel - Part Four
A Trophy for Gim
As my comrades bickered about which deity was good and evil, I took a good look at our fallen foe. He was definitely the mindflayer that escaped us all those months ago. He bore the scars of Gims claws down the less burned side of his face. I felt he had been a skilled adversary and I thought Gim should see our triumph over this monster and so he would. I raised my axe and cleaved his head from his body. After storing it in my bag I searched the rest of his body finding several items, including plenty of water breathing potions. When my comrades has finished fighting with each other we returned to the Thanes hall.

We made plans with the local guild to search the mouth of the water inlet to the lake. In order to find the aboleth I decided to use one of the new blessings Throrn had given me. He gave me the ability to magically track creatures within a certain distance. I do not believe my brother was pleased to see yet another way in which I had been shown Throrns favor.

At the mouth of inlet I used my power. It was a rush to feel the energy pass thought my body and then to feel it direct my attention in the aboleths direction. We each drank one of the potions I had found and dove in. Amazingly even Groehl swam well, he was even taking the lead until something strange happened. It was like a shimmer in the water coming straight at me. As it washed over me my visioned blurred for a split second, and then I was back on the boat.
