My Fight With Thurn, And Rescue From Throrn
Challenge accepted
I was sleeping in the middle of the woods... recuperating from the days adventuring. When suddenly, I was awoken by my brother who was screaming for us all to wake up. Shocked and amazed at the pitch of my brother’s voice I hurriedly awoke to find him face to face with an undead creature. Since I had been taught to handle these creatures I made the first attack and tried turning the creature from whence it came. Still drowsy from slumber I missed the attempt and instead my allies rushed to my aid to help in the creatures defeat.

After piecing together the story from what the Farmer told us to the undead monster that we had just encountered we started to gain a better understanding of what was trampling through the pumpkin patch. Realizing that these beasts would be out and about at night we decided to forgo sleep and venture throughout the night in hopes of vanquishing them. This specific undead came from the direction of Brochbarrow Hill. After walking for what seemed like hours in my armor I alone was able to spot a glimmering light atop the mountain high. Curious as to how this light was involved with the undead we continued walking until we heard some loud dwarves ahead. My foolish brother tried hiding in the shadows so the dwarves wouldn’t see him but the tree branch he was standing behind couldn’t have hid an ant. The rest of the group approached the semi-drunken dwarves who appeared joyous, but at the same time ready for whatever.

I decided to try and be diplomatic with them and even offered to have a drink with the gents. After more conversing we found that these men were hunters and were commissioned by someone secretive. Lochlan seemed to perk up when they mentioned a girl named... brodis... broden... wait no it was Brunis I believe. He later revealed that she was his lost sister that he had been searching for. Which would explain his eagerness when they mentioned her name. They didn’t have much information about the girl but it was still good news for Lochlan to find out she was still alive.

Gim on the other hand cared nothing about the dwarves and kept snooping around the cart for some reason. Although he did chime in when he realized the dwarves were lying about the undead. They admitted to killing the undead and even showed me the heads of their remains. This sickened me and Gim... I saw no honor in desecrating the bodies of these once honorable men. Gim’s questioning and a feeling deep inside led me to believe these men were somehow creating the undead and also that they were much more evil that what meets the eye.

After a little more questioning from myself I started to realize that these men were of Thurn. I quickly made a disparaging remark about the dwarves perhaps worshiping the wrong god and one of them stood up and challenged me. I knew that Throrn would give me the strength to win so I accept after my initial doubts subsided. Also, he insulted Throrn and I would have none of that.

We took to the battlefield to settle our differences honorably. I even let him take the first swing since I knew the battle was in Throrn’s hands. Ultimately the dark cleric knocked me off of my game plan and I had no choice but to heal myself in combat... which with my lack of combat experience seemed to be a hard task. Granted I loved battling one on one but this man had such a blood lust that I wasn’t able to stand toe to toe with him. I did manage to sink my pick deep into his side but that only angered him into a rage that led to myself being knocked unconscious.
While I lay there unaware of anything that was going on Throrn came to me in a vision. He told me that I fought honorably and that he would give my allies the strength to defeat the encounter so long as I kept the faith. He then took the time to show me new strategy involving more attacking magic that would allow me next time to take the upper hand.

I awoke to the aroma of a gnome standing over me with a wand in hand. Confused by the situation I stood back to realize Gim had healed me and was now expecting me to do the same for the group. After stopping the bleeding of my compatriots I gave the glory to Throrn and thanked him for the victory. Soon there after we searched the bodies to find weapons and gold. Also, we checked the cart the dwarves had and found a goblin inside. He was a jumpy goblin who proclaimed himself Grizzlegast the Great Goblin. I was just glad his name wasn’t as long as Gims. Anyway, he thought we were going to hurt him at first and scampered out of the cart. We eventually calmed him down and explained where we came from and that we had just defeated his captors. Relieved by the situation he expressed a strong desire to leave the site. Gim told him that the undead were evil and that we needed to stop them for the sake of nature... I tried not to discourage the lad but ultimately the undead would reach the town and people’s lives were at stake which is a much stronger need than nature... but nonetheless we had the same goal. Grizzlegast them told us that the dwarves we had just defeated indeed caused the undead to wander and were coming to life by means of a black crystal atop the mountain. With this news we knew what we had to do. Grizzlegast took our cart and headed back to town with the promise of returning the next day. I had my questions about his leaving but found him to be an honorable goblin... if there can be such a creature.
